The Ringgold baseball team opened section play at home on a gorgeous Tuesday afternoon at Ringgold High School. The Rams faced off against preseason section favorite, Laurel Highlands.
The Mustangs bats were alive early and often, grinding out 14 hits en route to an easy 10-2 win at Ken Griffey Sr. Field.
Ringgold finally got on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning. Remington Lessman walked to start the inning and moved to third on Hunter Mamie’s double. Gianni Cantini knocked in Lessman with a fielder’s choice and Mamie’s courtesy runner Noah Winberg scored on an Ashton Ray sacrifice fly.
There is a quick turnaround for Ringgold, who will travel to Laurel Highlands today in game two of the series. Lorenzo Glasser will get the start for the Rams on Wednesday with first pitch scheduled for 4p.m.
