The Ringgold softball team was back at home on Wednesday afternoon, hosting the Jaguars of Thomas Jefferson.
The Lady Rams would take an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, but watch as the lead quickly slipped away when the Jaguars plated 5 runs to start the second.
Ringgold would fight back and trim the deficit to one after three innings, thanks to a home run from Ashlee Selembo.
Both team would add on a couple of runs over the next few innings to push the score to 6-5 in favor of Thomas Jefferson. That was until Hannah Frizzell’s double tied the game in the bottom of the sixth.
After seven innings, the score remained knotted at 6 and the teams headed for extra innings. Ashlee Selembo led off the bottom of the eighth by reaching and advancing to second on an error. Selembo would advance to third before Kyle Gosliak’s RBI groundout scored the winning run!
Leading Ringgold offensively were Selembo with two hits and two RBI’s and Jillian Scherer who also had two hits in the win. Scherer also earned the victory on the mound, allowing six runs (one earned) on four hits in a complete game performance. She also walked two and struck out three.
Ringgold improves to (2-4, 2-3) and travels to McKeesport on Friday, weather permitting.
