Host Belle Vernon was able to top the Ringgold JV baseball team in a night game on Wednesday evening. The Rams would fall to the Leopards, 12-8, in a high-scoring affair.
Ringgold opened up the scoring in the first inning when Gage Fuller singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run. Fuller would later come around to score on a Deondre Dotson single. Belle Vernon would get one back in the bottom of the inning to trail 2-1.
The Rams would break the game open in the second, scoring five runs led by Andrew Amati, Deondre Dotson, and Hunter Suarez, who each had RBIs in the big inning.
At the end of three, Ringgold held a 7-3 lead over the Leopards, but it was in the fourth inning that Belle Vernon would rally and pull away for good, plating six runs.
Matt Simmons started the game on the mound for Ringgold. He surrendered eight runs on five hits over three innings, striking out three. Joe Shumaker and Chad Behrendt entered the game from the bullpen, throwing two innings and one inning respectively.
At the plate, Amati and Dotson both collected multiple hits for the Rams. Dotson and Amati each managed two hits to lead Ringgold Rams JV.
Ringgold will be back in action again on Friday, traveling to South Park.
