The Ringgold JV baseball team lost a heartbreaker at Uniontown on Wednesday in their season finale. The Rams lost the lead late in a 10-9 defeat.
Uniontown captured the lead in the second inning, scoring four runs to inch ahead 4-3. The Rams would respond in the third to score two of their own and take the lead back, 5-4.
The Raiders knotted the game up at five in the bottom of the third inning on an RBI- doubled
Ringgold trailed 6-5 in the top of the fifth inning when Andrew Amati singled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs to retake the lead.
Uniontown rallied to score four runs in the seventh inning and take the walk-off victory.
Despite the loss, Ringgold did collect seven hits in the high-scoring affair. Dax Kelly and Chad Behrendt each managed two hits to lead Ringgold.
Behrendt was on the pitcher’s mound for the Rams. He allowed nine hits and six runs over six innings, while striking out six. Joe Verscharen and Hunter Suarez entered the game as relief, throwing one-third of an inning and one-third of an inning respectively.
