Ringgold traveled to Connellsville on Tuesday night for a match-up against the Falcons in PIHL Division 2 hockey action.
Connellsville would strike first, scoring on a power play goal to take a 1-0 lead in the first period. The Rams would respond with Evan Eberlein scoring less than 5 minutes later to knot the game at 1.
The Falcons regained the lead early in the second period, scoring another power play goal on 18 seconds in. The lead lasted only 24 second, however, before Ringgold’s Nathan Todd scored an unassisted goal to tie the game once again. That score would hold until 3:18 to play, when Zach Kalinowski lit the lamp to give a 3-2 edge to the Rams.
Penalties continued to plague Ringgold in the third period and Connellsville again capitalized on the man advantage, scoring early in the period to once again tie the game at 3.
From there, neither team was able to break the tie throughout the rest of the third period or overtime and the teams headed to a shootout. Todd was up first for the Rams in the shootout and he was able to get one past the goaltender to give Ringgold the advantage.
Todd would end up being the only player to score on either goalkeeper in the shootout and Ringgold held on for the victory! Evan Cook made 33 saves in the winning effort.
With the win, Ringgold improves 4-1 on the year, and will return to the ice next Tuesday against Central Valley.
