The Ringgold hockey team experienced the most exciting game of the season to date on Tuesday night when they took on Neshannock in a PIHL Class B crossover game at Rostraver Ice Garden.
The Rams would be tested but ultimately overcame three different deficits, including a 4-1 disadvantage in the second period, before rallying to beat the Lancers 7-5.
Trailing 4-1 only two minutes into the second period, Ringgold would respond to score two goals, both from Evan Eberlein, before intermission to trim the deficit to 4-3.
In the third period, Zach Kalinowski scored to tie the game at 4 before Neshannock countered and took back a 5-4 lead. Only second afters, Brad Bujdos used a power play goal to once again tie things up at 5-5.
With less than 10 minutes left in regulation, Ringgold’s Hunter Hodgson, playing in his first game of the season, ripped a shot past the Neshannock goalie to give the Rams their first lead of the game.
Bujdos would score his second minutes later to give the Rams some insurance before completing the 7-5 comeback win.
Bujdos and Zach Kalinowski both finished with four points on the night to lead Ringgold.
Freshman Jerry Mease earned the victory in goal in a relief effort, replacing Chad DeGroen in the second period. Mease made 10 saves on 11 shots, earning his first varsity win.
With the win, Ringgold improves to 7-0 on the year and will take on Trinity in their next game on November 26th.
