The Ringgold hockey team was back in action after the Thanksgiving break, traveling to Hess Ice Rink on Monday night for an important game at second-place Neshannock.
The Rams would strike first midway through the first period when Hunter Suarez netted a power play goal on an assist from Justin Day. The Lancers would respond shortly after to tie the game at one, however the tie would be short-lived as Bradley Budjos gave Ringgold a 2-1 lead that they would take into intermission.
In the second period, both teams would score twice allowing the Rams to maintain a one goal advantage heading into the final 20 minutes. Scoring the Ringgold goals were Clayton Colecchi and Nathan Todd.
With the clock running out, the pressure was on Neshannock and the Lancers were up to the task. At the seven minute mark of the third period, Neshannock would find the equalizer to knot the game at 4.
Both teams would skate to a scoreless first overtime and were still deadlocked at the conclusion of double OT. The Rams would emerge victorious in the shootout taking a 5-4 win!
Evan Cook would record twenty saves in goal to earn the victory.
With the win, Ringgold improves to 7-2 overall and moves into second place in the Division II standings. Up next, the Rams will host Morgantown at 7:15pm on Monday, December 3rd.
