Late Score Costs Ringgold Rams Varsity Against Mckeesport
The Ringgold Lady Rams opened their section play on Friday afternoon, hosting Mckeesport High School in Finleyville.
Fridays’s game against Mckeesport was a heartbreaker for the Ringgold Lady Rams, as they lost the lead late in a 3-1 defeat. The game was tied at one with Mckeesport batting in the top of the sixth when Elash tripled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Mckeesport pitchers struck out five, while Ringgold Rams Varsity sat down eight.
In the first inning, Ringgold Rams Varsity got their offense started when an error scored one run for Ringgold Rams Varsity.
Mckeesport knotted the game up at one in the top of the second inning. Dansak’s sac fly scored one run for Mckeesport.
Lewis took the win for Mckeesport. She went seven innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out five and walking zero.
Jillian Scherer took the loss for Ringgold Rams Varsity. She allowed five hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out eight and walking one.
Lauren Gohacki, Hannah Frizzel, and Holly Arbes each managed one hit to lead Ringgold Rams Varsity.
Lewis went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Mckeesport in hits.
With the loss, Ringgold goes to 1-1 on the year and 0-1 in section play and will be back in action on Tuesday. The Lady Rams will travel to Thomas Jefferson for a sectional game, weather permitting.
