Uniontown came to town on Wednesday night to square off against Ringgold in a Section 2-3A girls soccer match-up. The Lady Rams were looking to punch their ticket to the 2019 WPIAL playoffs with a win over the Red Raiders.
Ringgold wasted no time in making that happen as Katelyn Ferrence netted two goals in the first three minutes of the game to give the Lady Rams an early advantage.
Marina Albero would add a third goal several minutes later on an assist from Jaelyn Rossini. Ringgold would maintain the three goal advantage at the half.
In the second half, Aubrey Esper would an insurance goal and the Lady Rams would take a 4-0 victory.
Although Uniontown didn’t threaten much offensively, Kylee Pry finished with 5 saves in goal to earn the shut out for Ringgold.
With the win, Ringgold clinches a playoff berth for the first time since 2015. The Lady Rams will learn who their playoff opponent will be after the WPIAL committee meeting next Wednesday. In the meantime, Ringgold will finish the regular season with two non-section games against Trinity and North Hills.
