Nick Flemm’s goal on the counter attack with less than 4 minutes left in the 1st half was the only scoring of the game as Norwin defeated Ringgold 1-0 in non-section action on Saturday afternoon at Joe Montana Stadium. The Knights, a perennial power in Class 4A out shot the Rams 19-10 (8-2 in the 2nd half). Ringgold’s best chance to tie came with :10 seconds left in the contest as Frankie Lowstetter struck a perfect corner kick on to the head of Jonnie McDuffie whose effort rang off crossbar. The rebound bounced right back to McDuffie who sent a shot just over the net as time expired. This was one of the best performances of the season for the shorthanded Rams who were without several key players due to injury or illness. Jeremy Mullen was stellar in goal finishing with 11 saves and Brian Long earned Man of the Match honors for Ringgold with an shutdown effort on defense. Ringgold returns to section play on Monday at Albert Gallatin. Kickoff is set for 7:45 PM.
