Ringgold hosted Elizabeth Forward on Wednesday afternoon hoping to clinch at least a share of the section title with a win against the Warriors.
Ringgold got the offense going in the first inning when a Ryan Varley double drove in Koby Bubash.
The Rams added another run in the fourth when Bobby Boyer ripped an RBI single to right to score Anthony Vavasori, and they would make the score 3-0 on Bo Haines’ RBI single with two outs in the following inning.
Both teams were strong on the mound Wednesday, with Ringgold pitchers allowing just seven hits. Varley got the start for Ringgold Ram Varsity. He lasted three innings, allowing five hits and zero runs while walking zero.
The Warriors made things interesting off Ram reliever Jake Mullen, plating a pair of runs in the top of the sixth. Mullen would hold on in the seventh to secure the victory.
Ringgold tallied nine hits on the day. with Luke Winterbottom and Koby Bubash each having multiple hit days to lead the way.
With the win, the Rams clinched at least a share of the Section 3-4A title for the first time since 2005. Ringgold (12-2, 11-2) will look to win the section outright by beating McGuffey on Thursday afternoon.
