Ringgold traveled to Wexford, PA on Saturday to square off against #1 New Castle in the second round of the WPIAL 4A playoffs.

The game was back-and-forth in the early going and the Rams were down 7-6 midway through the period. New Castle would flex its muscles and use a 10-2 run to close out the quarter.

The Red Hurricanes would increase their lead to 15 in the second quarter, but the Rams continued to fight and closed the half strong, trimming the deficit to eight points at halftime. This was despite missing six free throws in the period.

In the third quarter, New Castle once again built a 15-point in the opening minutes, but Ringgold countered with a 7-0 run after. Unfortunately, the Rams couldn’t get any closer and before the quarter ended the Red Hurricanes built the lead back to 44-33.

The Rams continued to fight, but just were able to change the tide and New Castle would hold on for the 64-52 victory.

Luke Wyvratt, finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead Ringgold, while Jaden Taylor added 14 and 9.

Ringgold will now wait to see how the WPIAL playoffs finish out. If New Castle were to win the title, the Rams would enter the PIAA tournament as the #5 team from District 7.
