The Ringgold boys basketball team hosted Waynesburg in Section 3-4A matchup on Friday night.
Waynesburg nailed a 3-pointer just before the half give the Raiders a 22-19 lead and end what had been an ugly two quarters for the Rams. Poor shooting and foul trouble kept Ringgold from finding any momentum in the first half and the Rams went to the locker room looking to regroup.
They did just that. Ringgold would open the third quarter with a dominant 16-1 run which broke the game open and gave the Rams a 35-23 lead.
Midway through the Ringgold run, things got a little chippy between the teams. A technical foul on Waynesburg turned into a 6-point swing. After Luke Wyvratt’s lay-up, Chris Peccon hit both free throws assessed on the technical, followed by another score on the ensuing possession.
From there, the teams continued to exchange baskets, but the Rams kept a comfortable lead throughout. The Raiders would get as close as 6 points, before Ringgold answered with a three-point play in the fourth quarter to seal the deal.
Chris Peccon scored a team-high 19 points while Luke Wyvratt, continuing to dominate inside, finished with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Demetrius Butler also chipped in with 15 points for the Rams.
The victory moves Ringgold to 9-1 (2-0) overall and extends Rams’ winning streak to nine games. Ringgold will travel to Uniontown on Tuesday for another section showdown.
