The Ringgold 8th grade girls basketball team was back at home on Tuesday, playing their first game of the week against Steel Valley.
The Ironmen jumped ahead early, scoring seven points in the first quarter to move ahead by six after one period. Ringgold’s only point came on a foul shot from Angelina Massey.
The Lady Rams were shut out in the second quarter, as they couldn’t get a shot to fall and finished the half without making a field goal. Ringgold trailed 12-1 at the break.
In the second half, despite plenty of open looks against the Steel Valley zone, the offensive drought continued until Annie Daerr’s basket midway through the third period.
Although Ringgold would outscore Steel Valley in the second half, it wasn’t enough to mount a comeback and the Lady Rams fell 16-8 on the day.
The girls will be back in action for their final home game on Thursday, March 5 against Pleasant Hills.
