The Ringgold 8th grade basketball team hosted Trinity in their first game of the season on Friday afternoon.

The Rams fell behind early as they struggled to defend the 3-point line, giving up three 3-pointers to the Hillers in the opening quarter. Ringgold trailed 17-3 after one.

In the second quarter, Ringgold switched to a man-to-man which helped their defensive effort, but sloppy play on the other end proved to be costly. Twelve first-half turnovers plagued the Rams and Trinity was able to increase the lead to 28-9 at the half.

The Hillers put the game away in the third quarter, outscoring Ringgold 17-5 to take a commanding lead en route to a 47-23 victory.

Tyler Helmantoler led Ringgold with 8 points to go along with 6 rebounds. Eli Callaway and Jordan Mayer each added 7 points apiece.

Ringgold will be back in action again on Wednesday, November 7 when they travel to Elizabeth Forward. Game time is set for 4pm.
