Game Recap

The Ringgold Rams traveled to Belle Vernon on Tuesday night in a battle to determine second place in Section 3-AAAA.

The Leopards got out to a fast start, scoring four runs in the first inning thanks to a couple walks and clutch hitting with runners in scoring position.

Ringgold would answer with two runs of their own in the top of the second to trim the deficit to 4-2. Jake Mayer had an RBI-triple and would later score on a Belle Vernon error.

Unfortunately, Belle Vernon wasn’t done at the plate. In the bottom of the second inning, the Leopards would plate three more runs to take a 7-2 lead.

The Rams would have opportunities throughout the game, but weren’t able to convert with runners in scoring position. Thanks to Ryan Varley’s relief effort on the mound, Belle Vernon couldn’t find any offense either for the rest of the game, but the deficit was too much overcome for Ringgold.

The Rams 11-3 (8-3) have a quick turnaround as they travel to South Park on Wednesday night for a battle with the first place Eagles. Game time is 7pm.

Game Recap

Ringgold hosted Uniontown on Friday afternoon in an important Section 3-4A game. The Rams could potentially clinch a playoff berth with the victory.

Ringgold grabbed an early lead, scoring on Jake Mayer’s sacrifice fly to go ahead 1-0 in the second inning.

The score would remain until the fifth inning when the Rams were able to add to their total. Matt Morgan would single to center field, driving in two runs, to give the Rams a 3-0 lead.

Uniontown would add a run in the top of the seventh, but it wasn’t enough, as Ringgold held on for the victory.

Bo Haines earned the win on the mound. He went five innings, allowing zero runs and only one hit, while striking out four.

With the win, Ringgold improves to 11-2 (7-2) on the year and clinches a playoff berth for the first time since 2005. The victory also sets up next week’s battles with section front-runners, Belle Vernon and South Park. The Rams will take on the Leopards on Monday, May 1 at 7pm.
