Game Recap

The Ringgold 8th grade basketball team hosted Fort Couch in their first home game of the season on Thursday afternoon.

After Fort Couch scored the opening bucket of the game, the Rams came out on fire, scoring 30 points in the first quarter to jump all over the Panthers. Nick Peccon had 11 points in the opening frame, including a three-pointer.

RInggold used a full court press to fuel its transition game and the offensive outburst continued in the second, with the Rams pouring in 26 points to complete overwhelm Fort Couch and take a 56-9 lead into the half.

Coach Hall called off the press in the third quarter and Ringgold dropped into a 2-3 zone for most of the second half. Offensively, the Rams played extremely unselfish, spreading the ball around and getting almost everyone on the scoresheet.

Final score: Ringgold 76, Fort Couch 14.

Peccon led all scorers with 15 points, while Frank Grelo added 12, and Tre Bundy and Christian Painter chipped in with 11 and 10 points respectively.

With the win, Ringgold improves to 2-0 on the year. Next up, the Rams will take on Trinity in a road contest. Game time is set for 3:45pm on Monday, November 13th.

Game Recap

The Ringgold football team went on the road Friday night for their final section game of the year against Trinity. The Rams not only needed a win, but also some help from Uniontown to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Ringgold looked strong early, building a four-point halftime lead, but unfortunately the Rams couldn’t hold on, and fell to Trinity by the score of 55-34.

Ringgold opened the game scoring on their first possession when senior Nathan Leaver caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from Caleb Eisel to take a 7-0 lead.

After falling behind 20-7, Eisel would find Max Maciejewski twice in the second quarter, scoring on throw of 51 and 34-yards to give the Rams a 21-20 lead. A Jackson O’Connor field goal gave Ringgold a 24-20 halftime lead.

Trinity took the lead for good with seven minutes to go in the third when Joey Koroly scampered 50 yards to put the Hillers up 34-27, and eventually pushed their lead to 41-27 late in the third quarter.

Ringgold would continue to fight, and Brenden Small broke loose for a 68-yard touchdown run to trim the Hillers lead to 41-34. The Ram defense would come up big on the next possession, forcing a three-and-out, but Max Maciejewski fumbled the punt and Trinity would recover.

Trinity would add two more scores in the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach.

Final score: Ringgold 34, Trinity 55.

Eisel finished the day going 15 of 21 for 226 yards with three touchdowns, but also had two interceptions. Small eclipsed the 100-yard mark, rushing for 108 yards and a touchdown. Maciejewski ended with 138 yards on seven receptions and two touchdowns.

The Rams finish the year at 3-6 (3-5) overall and miss out on the playoffs for the first time since 2009.
