On Wednesday, June 10th, Governor Tom Wolf issued preliminary guidance in order to resume interscholastic athletic activities. As you will see in the documents above, a requirement to resume athletics is for each school district to put together an “Athletics, Health and Safety Plan” aligning to the PDE Preliminary Guidance for Phased Reopening of Pre-K to 12 Schools for approval. Here at Ringgold, we have been and currently still are in the process of drafting and revising our own individual plan. On Tuesday, June 16th, Ringgold district officials will be meeting with officials from surrounding school districts to collaborate together and put mutually agreed upon guidelines in place. Of course, the safety and well-being of our athletes and coaches will continue to be the greatest priority.
Prior to resuming workouts, the Athletics, Health and Safety Plan must be approved by each school’s governing body and posted on the school entity’s publicly available website. Our next Ringgold school board meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 24th. It is our intention to have Ringgold’s Athletics, Health and Safety Plan ready for approval at this meeting.
Right now, the focus is solely on resuming workouts and no decision will be made about fall, winter or spring sporting events. This will be discussed and a plan determined at a later time as more public health information is available.
We look forward to resuming athletics in the near future but ask for patience as we work through this process!
