Multiple Teams · Athletic Department announces Senior Awards

With the annual Senior Awards Ceremony cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Ringgold Athletic Department recognized the achievements of the Ringgold Class of 2020 by including the athletic awards as part of the graduation program. A full recap of the athletic awards is detailed below.

Throughout the school year, the Athletic Department is asked to nominate deserving athletes for community awards and recognitions. This year’s abbreviated list included the Herald Standard Scholar Athletes. Danika Evans, Frank Lowstetter, Kylee Pry, and Luke Wyvratt were recognized as Herald Standard Scholar Athletes.

The first major award is presented for Distinguished 4.0 GPA Athletes. This award honors student-athletes who have excelled academically in the classroom, maintaining an overall grade point average of 4.0 while participating on one or more Ringgold sports teams. This year’s distinguished athletes were an exclusive group: Dominic Lengwin and Brian Long.

The Tri-Athlete Award is presented to those students who have participated on three or more sports teams over the last year. This tri-athlete award recognizes a very elite group for their dedication and commitment to Ringgold Athletics. This year’s recipients were: Hannah Brooks, Jacob Duncan, Ethan Gamble, Jake Gorman, Anjolina Hrycko, Kelsey Kimmel, Vincent Lombardi, Abbey Powell, Zach Powell, Jenna Sargent, Noah Stillwagon, and Roderick Wilson.

Finally, the Athletic Department gives an award to one male and one female who best exemplify success as a “student-athlete.”Athletes were nominated by their head coach and all varsity head coaches voted to select the winners.  To be eligible, all nominees must have earned at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA and must have demonstrated superior athletic achievement. This year’s Female Athlete of the Year was Kylee Pry and for only the second time in school history, we had a tie in the voting for male athlete of the year. Our co-male athletes of the year are Jacob Duncan and Chris Peccon.

Congratulations to all of our senior student-athlete award winners!
