Elizabeth Forward High School
Ringgold High School
The next Rematch game for the Lady Rams was at home against Elizabeth Forward, as previously both teams played to a 1-1 draw.
Due to a scheduling cancellation, this would be Elizabeth Forward’s last game of the season, so both coaches agreed to acknowledge the 8th grade players by naming them all captains prior to the game.
The Lady Rams once again struck first and early, as Alexa Carrozza scored just 2:30 in to the contest. With Ringgold holding the 1-0 lead, the light rain at kickoff turned into a constant heavy rain. With girls slipping, and the wet ball taking unusual bounces, the Lady Rams scored on themselves knotting the score at 1 at the 17-minute mark.
Having faced Elizabeth Forward earlier, Ringgold again “tweaked” their line up to create more favorable match-ups. The plan was to have center backs Alyssa Lenhart and Kasandra Holland plug the middle, forcing Elizabeth Forward’s key players outside, where inverted sweepers Ainsley Skrinjorich and Andrea Kassa would tightly shadow them. The plan worked nicely as the first half was drawing to a close. Becoming the eighth Lady Ram to score this season, mid fielder Khristina Morris found the back of the net in the last 30 seconds to give Ringgold the lead 2-1.
The heavy rain continued during the second half. At the 18 minute mark, Eleanor Bucchianeri was hauled down in the box, giving Ringgold a penalty shot. Mid fielder Faith Bobnar wasted little time burying the shot in the low corner of the net to give the Lady Rams a 3-1 lead. Elizabeth Forward slipped a goal in with about two minutes left to play, but Ringgold finished strong and secured victory.
The Lady Rams will wrap up their fall season with one last rematch on Monday at home against Canon Mac at 4:00pm.
