Game Recap

The Ringgold girls soccer team hosted second-place Chartiers Valley on Wednesday night in a game of huge importance to stay in the playoff picture. It was also Senior Night and 5 Lady Rams seniors were recognized prior to the game: Rylee Bove, Ashley Briscoe, Haley Frizzell, Mackenzie Musser, and Michaela Pry.

In a classy act by Chartiers Valley, senior Rylee Bove was allowed to take the opening kick of the game and earn a minute of playing time. It was a fitting end for the senior captain, who suffered a season-ending knee injury in the second section game.

The game remained scoreless midway through the second half until the Colts found the back of the net to take a 1-0 lead. After securing the lead, Chartiers Valley locked down defensively and limited Ringgold’s scoring chances the rest of the way.

With the loss, the Rams (6-7-1, 5-7-1) must defeat Trinity in order to gain the final playoff spot in Section 3-AAA. Ringgold resumes play Saturday evening in a nonsection match at rival Belle Vernon Area before Trinity next week.
